  • 2 cups all-purpose flour May substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for best flavor
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Can be substituted with dairy-free spread
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can make own with milk and lemon juice or vinegar
  • 3 large eggs For vegan version, substitute with flaxseed meal combined with water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional for extra chocolate flavor
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Heart-shaped sprinkles for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your bundt pan thoroughly.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in chocolate chips if using.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cooling and Decorating

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.
  • Allow to cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and decorate with heart-shaped sprinkles.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
