  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water This step creates a moist cake.

For Decoration

  • 1 batch Chocolate frosting Use store-bought or homemade.
  • to taste Fresh berries Optional for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch heart-shaped cake pans.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water until fully incorporated. The batter will be thin.

Baking

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decoration

  • Once completely cooled, frost the cake with chocolate frosting and decorate with fresh berries if desired.

Serving

  • Slice the cake into generous portions and serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh fruits.
