Valentine’s Day Treats
Delicious homemade chocolate-dipped strawberries and heart-shaped cookies perfect for celebrating love on Valentine’s Day.
Ingrédients
For the Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
- 1 pound Fresh strawberries, washed and dried Select ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
- 8 ounces Chocolate (dark or milk, chopped or chips) Choose based on personal preference.
For the Heart-Shaped Cookies
- 2 dozen Sugar cookies (sugar or butter) You can use the cookie recipe of your choice.
- 1 cup Sprinkles (colorful) Choose sprinkles that match your theme.
- 1 batch Royal icing (prepared) Use pre-made or homemade.
- optional Food coloring (for decorating) Use to customize icing colors.
Instructions
Preparation
- Wash and dry the fresh strawberries thoroughly. Remove any excess moisture.
- Melt the chocolate using a microwave or a double boiler. If using a microwave, heat in increments of 30 seconds, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
Dipping the Strawberries
- Dip each strawberry into melted chocolate, covering completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing on a parchment-lined tray.
- Let the chocolate-dipped strawberries sit at room temperature until chocolate hardens, or speed up by placing in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
Making the Cookies
- Roll out your cookie dough to about 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes from the rolled dough. Place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake cookies at 350°F for 8-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Once baked, let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
Decorating the Cookies
- Once cooled, decorate cookies using royal icing. Use piping bags for designs.
- Add sprinkles while the icing is still wet to ensure they stick.
Notes
Store chocolate-dipped strawberries in an airtight container. Best consumed within 24 hours, but can last in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Cookies should be stored after cooling to prevent moisture buildup.
