Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies
A delightful snack combining Chex cereal with colorful candy melts, M&M's, and sprinkles, perfect for celebrating love on Valentine's Day.
Ingrédients
Cereal Base
- 7 cups Chex cereal (divided) Use gluten-free Chex for gluten-sensitive version.
Candy Coating
- 1 cup pink candy melts Can substitute with white chocolate chips colored pink.
- 1 cup red candy melts Can substitute with white chocolate chips colored red.
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil Used to smooth out the candy melts.
Sweeteners and Add-Ins
- 1 cup powdered sugar (divided) Used for shaking with the cereal.
- 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s Can substitute with any color M&M's.
- 2-4 tablespoons Valentine’s Day sprinkles For decoration.
Instructions
Preparation
- Measure all ingredients and divide the Chex cereal into two bowls.
Melting and Coating
- Melt pink candy melts with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Coat one bowl of Chex cereal with the melted pink candy, folding gently.
- Place the coated cereal in a ziplock bag with 1/2 cup powdered sugar, seal, and shake to coat.
- Spread the coated cereal on a baking sheet lined with wax paper to cool.
- Repeat the melting and coating process with the red candy melts and the second bowl of Chex.
Final Assembly
- Once both mixtures are set after 30 minutes, combine them in a large bowl.
- Fold in the M&M's and sprinkles until evenly distributed.
- Serve immediately or package in cute bags for gifting.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
