Ingrédients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1.75 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional) Use for coloring macarons

  • Buttercream or ganache Choose for filling

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and tools. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Sift almond flour and powdered sugar.

Making the Batter

  • Beat egg whites until frothy, then gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently mix in vanilla extract and food coloring (if desired).
  • Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until just combined.

Piping and Baking

  • Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and pipe small circles on the baking sheets.
  • Tap baking sheet to release air bubbles and let macarons rest for 30-60 minutes.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until shells are set but not wiggly when touched.

Cooling and Filling

  • Let macarons cool completely on the tray before filling with buttercream or ganache.
  • Sandwich macaron halves together and enjoy your Valentine’s Day Macarons.

Notes

Store macarons in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for longer storage. Thaw frozen macarons overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
