Valentine’s Day Macarons
These delicate, homemade macarons bring elegance and romance to any celebration, perfect for Valentine’s Day or other special occasions.
Ingredients
Macaron Shells
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1.75 cups powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional) Use for coloring macarons

- Buttercream or ganache Choose for filling
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all ingredients and tools. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Sift almond flour and powdered sugar.
Making the Batter
- Beat egg whites until frothy, then gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently mix in vanilla extract and food coloring (if desired).
- Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until just combined.
Piping and Baking
- Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and pipe small circles on the baking sheets.
- Tap baking sheet to release air bubbles and let macarons rest for 30-60 minutes.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until shells are set but not wiggly when touched.
Cooling and Filling
- Let macarons cool completely on the tray before filling with buttercream or ganache.

Notes
Store macarons in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for longer storage. Thaw frozen macarons overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
