  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop.
  • Measure out the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl and whisk them together.

Mixing Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract and beat until fully integrated.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Chill Dough

  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.

Baking Cookies

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
  • Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Decorate with sprinkles or decorations of your choice.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them for later enjoyment.
