Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools—cake mix, eggs, oil, water, frosting, candy melts, lollipop sticks, and any decorations you want.
  • Preheat your oven as directed on the cake mix box.
  • Combine the cake mix with the eggs, oil, and water. Mix until smooth and pour the batter into a greased baking pan. Bake according to the package instructions until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely before proceeding.

Crumbling and Mixing

  • Once the cake has cooled, crumble it into a large bowl using your hands until it breaks easily into fine crumbs.
  • Pour the cup of frosting over the crumbled cake and mix until well combined. The mixture should be moist but not overly wet.

Forming and Freezing

  • Roll the mixture into small balls, about one inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Poke lollipop sticks into the center of each cake ball, going in about halfway, and freeze for about 30 minutes.

Dipping and Decorating

  • Melt candy melts according to package instructions in a microwave or double boiler.
  • Remove the cake pops from the freezer and dip each into the melted candy, ensuring they’re fully coated. Allow excess candy to drip off.
  • Before the coating sets, decorate with sprinkles.

Setting and Serving

  • Allow the cake pops to set completely at room temperature or in the fridge.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For storage, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Tips include avoiding overmixing and ensuring the cake is fully cooled to maintain shape.
