  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour

  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Can substitute with coconut oil for dairy-free
  • 4 large eggs Can substitute with flaxseed meal for vegan version
  • 1 cup milk Almond or oat milk can be used as a substitute
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Decoration

  • Food coloring (optional for decoration)
  • Whipped cream or frosting for decoration

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pans.
  • Gather all your ingredients.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing gently until smooth.

Baking

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and gently tap to release air bubbles.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decoration and Serving

  • Once cooled, decorate with whipped cream or frosting, adding food coloring or unique designs as desired.
  • Slice and serve to your loved ones, enjoying the moment together.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days or wrap and refrigerate for up to a week. You can freeze the cake for up to three months.
