Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Measure out the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Prepare cheese, buns, and desired toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.

Cooking the Patties

  • In a bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  • Divide the mixture into four portions and shape into patties approximately three-quarters of an inch thick.
  • Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb.
  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip carefully.
  • Cook the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes, placing a slice of cheese on top during the last minute of cooking.

Assembly

  • While the cheese melts, toast the burger buns until golden brown.
  • Layer lettuce and tomato on the bottom bun.
  • Add the cheesy patty, top with any extra toppings, and condiments.
  • Cap with the top bun and serve.

Notes
