Brownie Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs should be at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour can replace with gluten-free blend if needed
  • 1 cup cocoa powder measure carefully
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1-2 cups chocolate chips or nuts optional

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure they are at room temperature.

Cooking the Base

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Combining Mixtures

  • Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just combined and be careful not to overmix.

Adding Optional Ingredients

  • Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.

Baking

  • Spread the batter into the greased pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until soft in the center.

Cooling and Serving

  • Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Freeze for long-term storage.
