  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Can use a vegetarian or gluten-free version.
  • 1 cup milk Almond milk can be used for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to substitute with other cheeses.
  • 1 cup fried onions Adds a crispy topping.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust to personal preference.

Preparation

  • Gather and measure all your ingredients. Trim and blanch green beans in boiling water for about 5 minutes.

Cooking the Base

  • In a skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon, leaving the drippings in the skillet.

Sautéing the Mushrooms

  • Add sliced mushrooms to the bacon grease and sauté until tender, about 5-7 minutes.

Mixing the Casserole Base

  • In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and blanched green beans. Season with salt and pepper.

Assembling the Casserole

  • Pour the bean mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until bubbling.

Topping with Fried Onions

  • Remove from oven and sprinkle fried onions on top. Return to oven for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes
