Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 piece egg Can substitute with a flaxseed egg or mashed banana.
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, egg, sweet chili sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Roll the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet.

Cooking

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Check doneness using a meat thermometer, which should read 160°F (70°C).
  • If desired, drizzle extra sweet chili sauce on top during the last few minutes of baking.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. They can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
