  • 2 large eggs Can be substituted with flaxseed or chia seed mixture for vegan option.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom Freshly ground for better flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup sliced almonds Optional for topping.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and ensure butter is softened. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Batter Preparation

  • Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in the milk and ground cardamom until thoroughly combined.

Combining Ingredients

  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.

Baking

  • Grease the cake pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with sliced almonds if using.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

Cooling

  • Remove the cake from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. Freezes well for up to 3 months. Reheat as necessary.
