Dough Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup softened butter

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Measure out the flour, sugar, and other essentials.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  • Gently warm your milk until it reaches about 110°F (43°C). Pour this warm milk into the dry mixture along with the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, knead your dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place your kneaded dough in a greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about one hour.

Assembly and Baking

  • Once risen, roll the dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 12×16 inches.
  • Spread softened butter evenly over the surface of the rolled-out dough. Mix brown sugar with ground cinnamon, then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log shape. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  • Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fluffy.

Glazing

  • While the Sugar Snails bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to create the glaze.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
