Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk lightly and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until well combined.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula.

Baking

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Melt the chocolate for the web design and drizzle over cooled cookies in a spider web pattern.
