Ingrédients
  

Dough

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk about 110°F / 43°C
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve the active dry yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix until smooth and combined.
  • Gradually add flour, starting with 2 cups, until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Punch down the dough, divide into 12 portions, and shape into rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter if desired.
  • Cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For dairy-free rolls, substitute milk with almond or soy milk and butter with coconut oil. You can make the dough ahead and refrigerate overnight for convenience. Serve warm with butter, honey, or jam.
