  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free all-purpose flour.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans optional) Choose fresh nuts for best flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, salt, and chopped nuts, stirring until well combined.
  • Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a lined baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges turn golden.
  • Let cookies cool slightly, then roll them in powdered sugar while still warm.
  • Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack, rolling them in powdered sugar again for a snowy finish.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider toasting the nuts before adding them to the dough. You can also experiment with different extracts like almond or hazelnut.
