For the Glaze

  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup pineapple juice (or apple cider for variation)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (cubed)

For Garnish

  • as needed pieces whole pineapple rings for garnish
  • as needed pieces maraschino cherries for garnish

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure your ham fits snugly in the slow cooker.

Cooking the Ham

  • Place the ham flat side down in the slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, pineapple juice, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the glaze over the ham, ensuring it seeps between the slices.
  • Cover and set the slow cooker to low. Cook for 4 to 6 hours, basting periodically.
  • In the last 20 minutes, add cubed butter to the glaze.
  • For a caramelized glaze, spoon some glaze over the ham and broil for 3-5 minutes.

Serving

  • Carefully slice the ham and drizzle with the warm glaze. Garnish as desired.

Notes

Best served warm. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
