  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel chips
  • to taste Flaky sea salt for topping Sprinkle on top before baking.

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Cream until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the caramel chips.
  • Scoop portions of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space for spreading.
  • Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to two weeks. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.
