Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Gently fold in caramel chips and optional chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Sprinkle each dough ball with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are slightly underbaked.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze dough portions for up to three months.
