Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure that butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature.
  • Pre-measure all ingredients for smoother preparation.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream together softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until completely incorporated.

Combining Mixtures

  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until combined; do not over-mix.

Shaping and Baking
