  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances out the sweetness.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Adds crunch and flavor (optional).

Preparation

  • Gather all of your ingredients, cubing the loaf of bread in advance.

Cooking

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and salt until well blended.
  • Add the cubed bread to the pumpkin mixture, stirring gently to coat each piece.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans if using, distributing them evenly.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden and a knife comes out clean.
  • Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
