  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste.

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Prevents apples from browning.

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Whisked for glazing.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting Optional, for serving.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Peel and slice the apples into even pieces.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Allow to sit for a few minutes.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thickness.

Assembly

  • Cut the puff pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  • Place a few slices of the apple mixture at one end of a pastry strip and wrap to form a ring shape.
  • Pinch the edges to seal them well and arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the tops of the rings with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.

Notes

Perfect for sharing at gatherings; serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce. These can be customized with nuts, spices, or different fruits.
