  • 1 cup pecans (chopped)

For the Caramel Mixture

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Start by measuring out all your ingredients and pre-chop the pecans.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, unsalted butter, and corn syrup over medium heat, stirring continuously until it reaches a gentle boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine crispy cereal and chopped pecans.
  • Pour the caramel mixture over the cereal and pecans, folding gently until fully coated.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 10–15 minutes, stirring halfway through until golden brown.
  • After baking, remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, break into bite-sized pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

For gluten-free, use gluten-free crispy cereal. Customize with chocolate chips or dried fruits as desired. Store in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks.
