Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Butter knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

Ingrédients

  • 4 slices bread white, whole grain, or sourdough
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese or substitute cheddar or provolone
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices or substitute vegetables or cooked sausage
  • 2 tbsp butter softened

Instructions

  • Prepare all ingredients — slice cheese, portion out pizza sauce, and have pepperoni or other toppings ready.
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Add a layer of cheese, a spoonful of pizza sauce, pepperoni, and another slice of cheese.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

For a flavor boost, sprinkle oregano or basil between layers. To make it vegetarian, skip the pepperoni or use plant-based meat alternatives. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet for best results.
