- 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce Store-bought or homemade can be used.
Cheeses
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings
- 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices or chopped regular pepperoni Turkey pepperoni can be used for a lighter option.
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (red or green) Ensure vegetables are drained to reduce moisture.
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley Optional for garnish.
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the bite-sized bagel pieces evenly along the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Layering
- Drizzle half of the pizza sauce over the bagels.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
- Distribute half of the mini pepperoni, black olives, diced bell pepper, and sliced red onion over the cheese.
- Sprinkle with half of the dried Italian herbs.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining sauce, cheeses, toppings, and herbs.
Baking
- Cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
Serving
- Allow the casserole to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Scoop out portions and serve warm, garnished with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
