  • 1 can 397 g / 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 20 g unsalted butter 1½ tbsp
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 100 g pistachio cream or pistachio spread

  • 100 g pistachios, finely chopped for coating

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, unsalted butter, salt, and pistachio cream.
  • Prepare your pistachios by finely chopping them for coating later.

Cooking the Base

  • In a medium saucepan, add the condensed milk, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes until the butter melts.
  • Add the pistachio cream and stir until thoroughly combined.

Final Cooking

  • Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat for about 8-12 minutes until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

Chilling and Shaping

  • Transfer the mixture into a bowl and let it cool slightly before covering and refrigerating for 1-2 hours.
  • Once chilled, scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into balls.

Coating

  • Roll each ball in finely chopped pistachios until fully coated.

Serving

  • Place the coated brigadeiros into paper cups or on a serving plate. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

These brigadeiros can be customized with different coatings or flavors. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
