Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure the butter is at room temperature.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Making the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Gradually sift in the flour and salt while mixing until a soft dough forms.

Shaping the Cookies

  • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Use your thumb to create a small indent in the center of each cookie.
  • Spoon about a teaspoon of jam into each indent.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until they are light golden at the edges.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze with parchment paper between layers.
