  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet preferred)
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the cream cheese layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream, whipped OR 2 cups whipped topping
  • 0.75 cup crushed candy canes

For the top layer

  • 2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping
  • Extra crushed candy canes for garnish
  • Whipped cream swirls for garnish

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure to beat the cream cheese until it’s soft and creamy.
  • Crush the chocolate cookies ahead of time for the base.

Making the Crust

  • Combine the crushed chocolate cookies and melted butter until evenly coated.
  • Press this mixture into the bottom of a parchment-lined 9x9 or 9x13 pan and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.

Preparing the Chocolate Layer

  • Heat the heavy cream until just steaming, then pour it over the chocolate chips and let it sit for two minutes.
  • Whisk until smooth, then add butter and vanilla, whisking until glossy.
  • Spread over the chilled cookie crust and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.

Making the Cream Cheese Layer

  • Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla, and beat until creamy.
  • Fold in whipped cream or whipped topping, then mix in crushed candy canes.
  • Spread evenly over the chocolate layer and refrigerate for another 20 minutes.

Final Assembly

  • Spread whipped cream or whipped topping over the peppermint layer and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Garnishing

  • Sprinkle extra crushed candy canes on top and add whipped cream swirls for decoration.

Serving

  • Slice and serve, enjoying the delightful flavors and layers.

Notes
