Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients before you begin.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and room-temperature butter until you achieve a crumbly texture.
  • Press the buttery flour mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • Bake this base in the oven for about 15 minutes until it is lightly golden.

Making the Filling

  • While the crust is baking, whisk together the brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the chopped pecans until they are well coated.

Baking

  • Once the crust is cooled slightly, pour the pecan filling mixture over the baked crust and spread it evenly.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly.
  • After baking, remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool completely before cutting.

Serving

  • Once cooled, use a sharp knife to cut into squares and serve on a beautiful platter.
  • Best enjoyed with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months. For a variation, consider adding chocolate chips or swapping nuts.
