  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk Can substitute with almond milk and apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup peach butter Homemade version can be made with ripe peaches, sugar, and lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Used for melting in the baking dish

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop.
  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Place the unsalted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish to melt as the oven preheats.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  • Add the buttermilk and peach butter to the dry mixture and gently stir until a shaggy dough forms.

Baking

  • Pour the dough over the melted butter in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in microwave or toaster oven. For freezing, cut into squares and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months.
