  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For enhancing flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt To balance sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar For topping.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted for topping.

Preparation

  • Cut the brioche bread into thick slices, about 1 to 1.5 inches in width.
  • In a large bowl, combine the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  • Arrange the bread slices snugly in a baking dish and pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight for at least 8 hours.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix brown sugar and butter in a small bowl to create a crumbly topping.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and butter mixture evenly over the soaked bread.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, until custard is set and top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serving

  • Serve warm, topped with fresh berries or fruit if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For freezing, wrap individual slices tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
