Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breasts Skinless and boneless
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to taste Fresh herbs (such as parsley or basil) for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all of your ingredients. Chop the garlic, measure out the orzo, and season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook them until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • With the skillet still warm, add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn.
  • Stir in the orzo pasta, allowing it to toast for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, bring it to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 9-10 minutes until the orzo absorbs the broth and becomes tender.
  • Once the orzo is al dente, stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until creamy.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and heat through for about 2 minutes.
  • Garnish your Orzo Chicken with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

To store, let it cool completely and transfer it to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months. Reheat gently, adding broth or water to loosen the sauce if necessary.
