  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice About 2-3 oranges, using fresh juice enhances flavor.
  • Zest of 2 oranges zest of 2 oranges Adds a fresh orange flavor.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter For a dairy-free option, substitute with coconut oil.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and prepare your workspace.
  • Zest the oranges and juice them to ensure you have fresh orange juice ready.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the eggs, sugar, orange juice, and orange zest.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the curd thickens, about 10 minutes.
  • Ensure the curd is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  • Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the unsalted butter until melted.
  • Strain the curd through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl or jar.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the curd to cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate for at least an hour or until set.
  • Enjoy the Orange Curd on toast, pancakes, or as a dessert filling.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
