Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water around 40°C
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients and measure them accurately.
  • In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil and salt, then stir gently.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased pan.
  • Cover again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool the bread on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add herbs like rosemary or garlic to the dough. Brush with olive oil before baking for a shiny crust. The bread can be frozen for up to 3 months.
