Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth but do not overmix.
Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Leave space for rising.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
