This easy Monte Cristo Breakfast Casserole combines layers of buttery bread, savory ham, turkey, and gooey cheese baked with a sweet custard of eggs, milk, and vanilla. Perfect for brunch or holiday mornings!
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
Dice ham and turkey. Cut bread into cubes.
Layer half of the bread cubes in the dish and press down lightly.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, and pepper until combined.
Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread. Add the ham, turkey, and cheese evenly on top.
Top with remaining bread cubes and pour the rest of the egg mixture over. Press down gently.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace ham and turkey with sautéed spinach and mushrooms. For a sweet twist, use brioche bread and drizzle with maple syrup before baking.
