Preparation
- Start by gathering all your ingredients. Remove the crusts from the sandwich bread and use a rolling pin to lightly flatten each slice.
- Cut the bread slices into squares: large squares for the base layer, medium squares for the middle, and small squares for the top.
Assembly
- Prepare your spreads by softening the cream cheese and spreading it on some of the sliced bread. Generously apply pesto to the corresponding slices.
- Consider adding thin slices of turkey, ham, or smoked chicken to the cream cheese layers. Add thin slices of cucumber or shredded lettuce for freshness, and crushed nuts for added crunch.
- Start with a large square of bread (cream cheese layer on the bottom), gently press down with another slice. Alternate the layers, stacking the medium square followed by another layer and finishing with a small square on top.
- Secure the shape with a decorative gold or wooden skewer.
