  • 1 cup butter, softened Can substitute with olive oil for dairy-free
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth Can be replaced with vegetable broth for vegetarian

Stuffing Ingredients

  • 2 cups stuffing mix Use gluten-free option if needed
  • 1 cup cranberries

Side Dishes

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup green beans Steamed until vibrant

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start your preparation by gathering all the ingredients listed. Ensure you have everything you need at your fingertips.
  • Wash and dry the turkey properly to prep for seasoning.

Cooking the Turkey

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, getting it under the skin where possible for added moisture.
  • Sprinkle the salt and black pepper evenly across the surface.
  • Take the stuffing mix and combine it with cranberries in a bowl. Gently stuff this mixture into the turkey cavity.
  • Place the stuffed turkey breast-side up in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth around the turkey.
  • Put the turkey in the oven and roast for about 3 hours, checking the internal temperature.
  • The turkey is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  • Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 to 30 minutes before carving.

Preparing Side Dishes

  • While the turkey is roasting, prepare your sides. Boil potatoes for your mashed potatoes and steam the green beans.

Serving

  • Carve the turkey in slices and arrange it on a serving platter. Serve with the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

Notes

Consider using fresh herbs in your stuffing for added flavor. If someone's dietary restrictions need addressing, substitutes can easily be made.
