Ingrédients
  

Beef & Sauce

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger or 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes optional, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil for cooking the beef

To Serve

  • 2 cups cooked rice white, jasmine or basmati
  • green onions sliced, for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the garlic and ginger, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until fully browned.
  • While the beef is cooking, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  • Pour the sauce over the cooked beef, reduce heat slightly, and simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.
  • To assemble, divide the cooked rice among bowls, top with the Korean-style beef, then garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

You can add extra toppings like shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, or a drizzle of sriracha mayo to make it more colorful and flavorful. This recipe also works well for meal prep.
