Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients at room temperature.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and light in color, about 2-3 minutes on medium speed.
  • Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until thick but airy.
  • Slowly pour in the Kahlua coffee liqueur, mixing at low speed until fully integrated.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Incorporate the espresso or strong brewed coffee into the mixture.
  • Adjust consistency by adding more cream if the filling is too thick.
  • Taste and adjust the sweetness or coffee flavor as desired.
  • If not using immediately, refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Use the filling as desired for cakes, cupcakes, or as a dip.

Notes

Store unused filling in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be frozen for up to three months. Re-whip after thawing to restore texture.
