Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure the butter is softened.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in whole milk, fresh lemon juice, and lemon zest until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

Cooling

  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
