Brownie Base

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.33 cups Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Nougat Layer

  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.25 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 jar marshmallow fluff
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups salted peanuts

Caramel Topping

  • 1 bag caramel bits
  • 0.25 cups heavy whipping cream

Final Chocolate Layer

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Preparation

  • Begin by gathering all your ingredients to ensure the baking process goes smoothly. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Cook the Base

  • In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and kosher salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Mix in the room temperature butter and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures

  • Carefully add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake the Brownies

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes. To check if they’re done, insert a toothpick; if it comes out clean, they are ready.
  • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.

Make the Nougat Layer

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the ¼ cup of butter, then mix in 1 cup of sugar and ¼ cup of heavy cream.
  • Stir until it reaches a boil, then remove from heat. Mix in the peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, followed by the salted peanuts.

Spread the Nougat Mixture

  • Spread the nougat mixture evenly over the cooled brownie base.

Prepare the Caramel Topping

  • Melt the caramel bits in a saucepan over low heat with ¼ cup heavy whipping cream, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour it over the nougat layer, spreading it evenly.

Add the Final Chocolate Layer

  • Melt the milk chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour this layer over the caramel, creating a glossy top.

Chill Before Serving

  • Place the entire assembled dish into the fridge to chill for at least 2 hours.

Slice and Enjoy

  • Remove the brownies from the fridge and using the parchment paper, pull them out of the pan. Slice into squares.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flaxseed meal and replace dairy ingredients with plant-based alternatives. Experiment with different nuts for variations.
