For the filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup jalapeños (optional) for added spice

For the main components

  • 1 lb smoked sausage sliced into 1.5-inch pieces
  • enough slices Bacon to wrap each sausage slice
  • optional Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Slice the smoked sausage into 1.5-inch pieces and hollow out a small portion from the center of each sausage slice.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, barbecue sauce, and optional jalapeños. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Fill each hollowed sausage slice with the cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag.
  • Wrap each filled sausage slice with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick if necessary.
  • Place the wrapped sausage slices on the grill and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is hot and bubbly.
  • Remove from grill and let cool for a minute before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
