Steak Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak Can substitute with sirloin or skirt steak.
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced Non-dairy mozzarella can be used for lactose intolerance.
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze Can use balsamic vinegar as an alternative.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the mozzarella, and wash the basil leaves.
  • Drizzle the flank steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper. Allow marinating for 20 minutes.

Cooking

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Grill the flank steak for 5-7 minutes on each side until it reaches the desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  • Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice against the grain into 1/2-inch thick slices.

Assembly

  • Arrange sliced steak on a platter. Top with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil.
  • Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes. Resting the steak is crucial for juiciness, and always slice against the grain for tenderness.
