  • 1 cup beef broth Use low sodium if preferred.
  • 1/4 cup au jus seasoning mix
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or herbs.

Preparation

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all the necessary ingredients on your countertop so you can work efficiently.
  • Carefully slice the French bread into 1–2 inch squares.
  • Layer the roast beef and provolone cheese between two squares of bread to create mini sandwiches.

Mixing and Soaking

  • In a bowl, combine the beef broth and au jus seasoning mix, stirring well.
  • Pour the au jus mixture over the assembled squares, making sure to soak them evenly.

Baking

  • Using a pastry brush, coat the tops of the sandwiches with melted butter.
  • Transfer the squares into the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
  • Once baked, remove the squares from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These squares are great as appetizers or a main dish. They can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Wrap leftovers in containers to keep fresh for up to 3 days.
