  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients first, ensuring the shrimp are peeled and deveined and vegetables are chopped.

Cooking

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the onion, green bell pepper, and celery for about 5-7 minutes until soft.
  • Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the shrimp and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque, then drain excess liquid.

Mixing the Custard

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and milk. Add eggs, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Blend well until the mixture is smooth.

Assembling the Pie

  • Pour the shrimp and vegetable mix into the prepared pastry shell.
  • Gently pour the custard mixture over the top, ensuring even distribution.
  • Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese generously on top.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Carefully place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.

Serving

  • Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Cut into slices and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like parsley or dill into the custard mixture. For a spicy version, add diced jalapeños.
