  • 12 ounces spaghetti Use gluten-free spaghetti for a gluten-free option.
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce Ensure the sauce is gluten-free if needed.
  • 1 large egg

Meat and Cheese

  • 1 pound ground beef Can be substituted with ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternatives.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Use high-quality cheese for better flavor.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Can use low-fat cheese for a lighter option.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all of your ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Cooking the Base

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add marinara sauce to the browned beef and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg and add the cooked spaghetti along with half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined.

Layering the Dish

  • Spoon half of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish evenly.
  • Layer with half of the meat and sauce mixture, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining spaghetti, meat sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella cheese.

Baking

  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the dish cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

To store, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
