For the Chicken

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can use non-dairy milk mixed with vinegar for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour for gluten-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sliders

  • 10 mini waffles (store-bought or homemade)
  • Maple syrup, for drizzling
  • Optional: sliced pickles, coleslaw, or cheese for toppings

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients and preparing your workspace. Cut the chicken breast into strips and place them in a bowl with buttermilk. Let the chicken marinate in the buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Cooking

  • Once marinated, dredge each strip of chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
  • Heat enough oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat to submerge the chicken strips partially.
  • Carefully add the chicken strips to the hot oil, frying in batches for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Place the fried chicken on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • While the chicken is draining, toast the mini waffles until golden.

Assembly

  • Assemble the sliders by taking a mini waffle, placing a piece of fried chicken on top, adding any optional toppings, and drizzling with maple syrup.
  • Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat by baking in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
