  • 1 cup unsalted butter Must be browned for optimal flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M’s Optional for added color and texture.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients on a clean workspace. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cooking

  • Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously for about 5-7 minutes until it turns a rich, golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Combine the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl, stirring until smooth.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until fully integrated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in white chocolate chips and M&M’s if using.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once baked, allow to cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before transferring to a cutting board and cutting into squares.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute eggs with flax eggs or unsweetened applesauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or in the fridge for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
